Prayers lighten the heart and elevate the mind. They link you to the infinite cosmic energy. Prayers are food for the soul.

You are welcome to join our World Peace Prayers (see Events).

From Swami Atmachaithanya's book "Path of Wisdom":

"Prayer helps us to make contact with God - I as a child, God as mother or father. Whenever you pray, you pray to the Supreme Being. Take for granted that He exists within us and is our great protector.

When we telephone a friend in another country, we feel a sense of closeness. In the same way prayer helps us to feel closer to God and more power flows into us."

You can follow this prayer by reciting the Sun Mantras.

Prayer to the Divine Mother

O Divine Mother
May all my speech and idle talk be Mantra,
All actions of my hands be Mudra,
All eating and drinking be the offering of oblations unto Thee,
All lying down prostrations before Thee;
May all pleasures be as dedicating my entire self unto Thee,
May everything I do be taken as Thy worship.

Food Prayer

By reciting the food prayer we offer our food first to God and thank Him for giving it to us. The prayer also sanctifies the food. By saying or mentally repeating the prayer our body and our subtle bodies receive food of a higher order.

The first or both verses from the holy scripture "Bhagavad Gita" are frequently recited before eating the food.

Brahamaarpanam Brahma Havir

Brahagnau Brahmanaahutam

Brahmaiva Tena Gantavyam

Brahma Karma Samadhina

This is the 24th verse from the 4th chapter of the Bhagavad Gita (holy scripture).

The act of offering is Brahman (God). The offering itself is Brahman. The offering is done by Brahman in the sacred fire which is Brahman. He alone attains Brahman who, in all actions, is fully absorbed in Brahman.

Aham Vaishvaanaro Bhutvaa

Praaninaam Deham Ashritaha

Praana Aapana Samaa Yuktaha

Pachamy Annam Chatur Vidham

This is the 14th verse from the 15th chapter of the Bhagavad Gita.

Existing as fire God in the bodies of living beings. I am associated with the ingoing (prana) and outgoing (apana) life breaths, I will digest all the four* different types of food and purify them.

*four different types of food: 1. chewed by masticating food in small pieces and swallow it, e.g. vegetables; 2. licked by the tongue, e.g. honey; 3. sucked like juice, e.g. sugar cane; 4. swallowed without chewing, e.g. liquids.
